Nan McNamara studied at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis and performed at a number of theatres in the Twin Cities before venturing to Los Angeles. She began her acting career in the Northwest where she graduated Cum Laude from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre.
Upon arrival in LA, it wasn’t long before Nan began working in television and film. Her varied list of credits include roles in the feature films Naked Under Heaven (with Tim DeKay) and Timechanger (now available on DVD). Her television work includes roles on Melrose Place, Who’s the Boss, Perfect Strangers, Working Girl (with Sandra Bullock) and the MOW Christine Cromwell (with Celeste Holm). In addition, she has worked extensively in commercials and voiceover for both radio and television.
Ms. McNamara is equally comfortable “on the boards,” having performed in over 40 theatrical productions at numerous theatres in The Twin Cities (including Park Square Theatre and Theatre in the Round) and Los Angeles (including Actors Co-op, Theatre East, Friends & Artist and The Dynarski Theatre) .
Stage highlights include the role of Kathleen in Actors Co-op’s production of Terra Nova (nomination – Best Revival Production, LA Weekly), Yelena in Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya (directed by Simon Levy; Critic’s Choice Los Angeles Times) and Rosalind in As You Like It (the largest Shakespearean role ever written for a woman) at Actors Co-op, for which she received a Maddie Award and a Backstage West Garland Award Honorable Mention.
